FOSTERING RES AWARENESS THROUGH SCHOOL PROGRAMMES
ALBANIA, KAMZA MUNICIPALITY
, ,
Overview
The pilot action targets to increase energy independence and behavioural change towards the reduction of energy consumption and GHG emissions, with a focus to biomass exploitation.
The action delivers:
- an analysis of the fuelwood supply chain, processing and combustion to identify opportunities for increasing the efficiency of firewood use;
- a report studying the fuelwood demand in Albania and the feasibility of a biomass plant in Kamza Municipality;
- the installation of a heating system with pellet boilers at the Kamza e Re Kindergarten in Kamza Municipality, and
- training activities promoting the efficient use of biomass towards local stakeholders, municipality staff, school teachers and parents.
Macro objective:
- Increase of energy from RES in the local energy mix
- GHG emissions reduction by decreasing the use of fossil fuels for electricity production
Specific objectives:
- Upgrading of existing heating systems in public buildings using biomass
- Increase waste & organic residues recycling
- Raise awareness on small- scale biomass plants, to push development at local level
Impacts to be achieved by 2030:
- CO2 emissions saved/y: 169 t
- Thermal energy generated from RES: 268,800 kWh/y
